Heat pump installations can also be subcontracted through an MCS Umbrella Scheme. MCS Standard (MCS001-1) must be followed, and requires:

• A formal written contract between the MCS installer and the subcontractor. The MCS contractor ensures the subcontractor has the necessary capacity and competency for their scope of work.
• The subcontractor possesses the appropriate insurances for their scope of work (eg public liability insurance, professional indemnity insurance).
• The MCS contractor assumes responsibility at handover for the installation.
