Contractors can be certified to the following:

• MIS3005-D the Heat Pump Standard (Design) and/or
• MIS3005 -I the Heat Pump Standard (Installation).

This allows greater flexibility if the contractor is only interested in the installation process for heat pumps and might appeal to gas boiler installers who team up with a certified designer of heat pump systems.

Where the contractor is MCS-certified for installation only, the design shall be in accordance with MIS 3005-D and undertaken by a contractor certified against that standard.
