In line with the MCS standards, an MCS certified contractor must comply with the Customer Commitment. Installers must provide the Customer Commitment to customers before a contract is signed. It outlines the responsibilities of the installer and the customer, and what customers can expect from the installation process.

The two approved consumer codes currently recognised by MCS are:

  • customers in vulnerable circumstances
  • advertising
  • behaviour of sales reps
  • performance information
  • proposals
  • costs and quotes
  • contracts
  • cancellation rights
  • amount of deposit permitted
  • guarantees
  • maintenance
  • dispute resolution process

A MCS certified contractor may also be a member of a CTSI Consumer Code, however this is no longer a requirement under the new redeveloped MCS scheme.
