In line with the MCS Standards, an MCS Certified Contractor shall also be a member of a CTSI Consumer Code, and must comply with a code of practice. This requirement may be changed in January 2025 following the redevelopment of MCS.

The two approved consumer codes currently recognised by MCS are:

• Renewable Energy Consumer Code (RECC)
• The Home Insulation & Energy Systems Quality Assured Contractors Scheme (HIES)
