In line with the MCS standards, an MCS certified contractor must comply with the Customer Commitment.

The two approved consumer codes currently recognised by MCS are:

  • customers in vulnerable circumstances
  • advertising
  • behaviour of sales reps
  • performance information
  • proposals
  • costs and quotes
  • contracts
  • cancellation rights
  • amount of deposit permitted
  • guarantees
  • maintenance
  • dispute resolution process

A MCS certified contractor may also be a member of a CTSI Consumer Code, however this is no longer a requirement under the new redeveloped MCS scheme. The two approved consumer codes currently recognised by MCS are:
